OurCouple is built with privacy at its core. Your content is encrypted by default, which means only you and your partner can see it. Not even we can read your messages, photos, or notes.

This policy applies to our website, waitlist, and mobile application.

What We Collect

Account Information

• Email address
• Display name
• Authentication data (via email, Google, or Apple Sign-In)

Your Content (Encrypted)

All content below is encrypted on your device before being stored on our servers:

• Daily messages and photos of the day
• Shared moments and memories
• Shared notes
• Events and dates
• Daily question answers

App Usage Data

• Virtual pet progress (name, level, experience)
• Couple streak data
• Push notification tokens
• App preferences and settings
• Crash reports and performance data (anonymized)
• Purchase and subscription status

Analytics Data (Website & App)

We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve our product:

• Page views and navigation patterns on our website
• Feature usage and interaction events in the app (e.g., which features are used most)
• Conversion funnels (signup, onboarding completion, subscription)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Referral source (how you found us)

This data is not linked to your encrypted content and cannot be used to read your messages, photos, or notes.

Device Permissions

• Camera and photo library (to share photos with your partner)
• Notifications (to receive messages from your partner)
• Calendar (to sync couple events to your device calendar — Premium only)

Waitlist

• Email address only

Encryption

All your personal content is automatically encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers. Only you and your partner have the keys to decrypt it.

This means:

• Your messages, photos, and notes are encrypted by default
• Only encrypted data is stored on our servers
• Only you and your partner can decrypt your content
• We cannot read your content

Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted services to operate the app. Each service only receives the minimum data necessary:

• Supabase — Database hosting and authentication. Stores your encrypted content and account data.
• RevenueCat — Subscription management. Receives your user ID and purchase information to manage premium access.
• Sentry — Crash reporting. Receives anonymized error reports and performance data to help us fix bugs.
• Expo — Push notification delivery. Receives your device push token to deliver notifications.
• PostHog — Product analytics (website & app). Collects anonymous usage data (page views, feature usage, funnels) to help us improve the product. Data is hosted in the EU. Does not access your encrypted content.
• DataFast — Lightweight website analytics. Collects anonymous page view data on our website only.
• Apple / Google — Authentication (Sign in with Apple or Google). Receives only the data necessary to verify your identity.

None of these services can access your encrypted content.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain the app
• Sync your data between your devices
• Share your content with your connected partner
• Send push notifications (with your permission)
• Sync events to your device calendar (with your permission)
• Monitor app stability and fix crashes
• Analyze usage patterns to improve features and user experience
• Process premium subscriptions
• Notify you about product updates (waitlist)
• Respond to support requests

What We Don't Do

• We don't read your content (we can't)
• We don't sell your data
• We don't show you ads
• We don't share your data with third parties for marketing
• We don't use your content for AI training or analytics
• We don't track your location

Partner Sharing

OurCouple is designed for couples. When you connect with a partner, your shared content becomes visible to them:

• Daily messages and photos of the day
• Shared moments, notes, and events
• Daily question answers
• Virtual pet progress
• Couple streak

By inviting or accepting a partner, you consent to sharing this content with them. You can disconnect at any time in the app settings.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and export your data
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and all your data
• Unsubscribe from emails at any time

Data Retention

• Active accounts: data is kept as long as your account is active
• Deleted accounts: all data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Waitlist: email is kept until you unsubscribe or the app launches

Age Requirement

OurCouple is for users 16 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
